New York City

We arrived in New York City around 5:00pm and I think it is safe to say we all were a little surprised by all the activity going on, I mean there are cars, buses, and people EVERY WHERE. It is all overwhelming and exciting at the same time. We checked into the Sheridan Towers in mid-town Manhattan. Cory and Emily loved the rotating door and could not go around enough.

Once we got settled in our rooms, we wanted to go and see the city. We were only a few blocks from Times Square so that is where we went first.

Wicked was playing at the Gershwin Theater, the girls and I saw this in LA but they had to get a photo on Broadway! Since you see the yellow cabs all over the kids favorite line was "watch out the yellow ones don't stop!!!"

The subway was really fun. It is loud and quite fast. We are heading to the Financial District.

Next stop, World Trade Center.

Where the twin towers were they have a memorial and layout of the new buildings and park. You can see the construction still going on to clear the way for the new foundations to be set. The hole in the ground in massive, in the pictures below you can see them working. The buildings around the trade center are still pretty messed up, I was surprised by that.

St.Paul's Chapel

across the street from the World Trade Center there is this old church in the midst of all these skyscrapers, with a very old grave yard in the front. We thought it would be fun to check out the graves and see how old they really are, we found so much more.

This church is where George Washington the first president of the United States gave his Inauguration speech!! This is also where he attended church. Below is a picture of the chair he sat in...pretty neat.

After the attack on September 11, 2001, which led to the collapse of the twin towers of the World Trade Center, St. Paul's Chapel served as a place of rest and refuge for recovery workers at the WTC site. For eight months, hundreds of volunteers worked 12 hour shifts around the clock, serving meals, making beds, counseling and praying with fire fighters, construction workers, police and others.

There are signs and photos from all over the United States with words of love and encouragement for those who were directly effected. While we were here a high school choir from Minnesoda sang, they were very good, this totally set the mood of reverence.

I love this picture below, it is a patch from every organization(even the search dogs have patches) who help with the rescue and recovery at the WTC. On Steve's must see list was the Empire State Building. It was really hazy when we got into the city so you could not see much of the skyline, so we thought the day before we leave to Bermuda we would go to the top at night and see the city from above... I am so glad we did. It was about 10:00pm and we wanted to take the last elevator up so we would not have to wait in line. We jumped on the subway down to the Empire State Building. When we got there the line was empty...yea our plan worked. We went up to the 122 floor, for a view that can not be compared. Honestly, it was breathtaking and cold!!

Cory is checking out the Statue of Liberty

Central Park Pics

Things you see walking down the streets, amazing buildings, Delicious treats, mini statue of liberty, purses and scarfs for miles. One of the fun est things we girls got to do was get new purses. Guchi, Prada, Channel, Coach you name it they have it. We would bargain with the street vendors...way fun.

Check out my sweet Coach bag...nice huh.

The pastries are beautiful and messy.

Rockefeller Center

New York was so much fun it is to bad we only had a day and a half to be there.
