Part 3 Setting sail for Bermuda

As we leave New York harbor the crew gave everyone a wonderful pineapple fruit drink. Cheers we are going to Bermuda!!!

Seeing the Statue of Liberty was a highlight for all of us, we sailed right passed it.
It is beautiful.
Good Bye New York....Hello Bermuda!!We arrived in Berrrmuda Monday morning it was cold and cloudy. We wanted to get scooters and cruise around the island, so that is where we went first. We hopped a ferry to the city of Hamilton and found Smatts Scooter Rental. Since their was about 15 of us the scooter guy made us a sweet deal, if we promised not to crash the scooters, of course we all said that we were great drivers have rode scooters/motorcycles within the last month, have driven with passengers and we would not harm or wreck there scooters.......those comments would prove to be false. We each had to take a "test drive" I have to say driving in Bermuda is not easy, for one most of us have NEVER driven a scooter and you drive on the opposite side of the road, second the roads are small and narrow. There is also a lot of traffic which is kind of surprising. This whole scooter thing was going to be an adventure!

The guy in the street was the "scooter police" he wanted to make sure we all could ride, but he was not very nice about it. Our first stop was
this underwater museum. We wanted to look around and get a map of the island since none of us have any idea where we are or where we are going. We decided to go to this cathedral that was built in 1800, (this is a must see if your going to Bermuda) As we were pulling out of the driveway, Cara gave her scooter to much gas and totally crashed !!! It was soooooo funny all we could do was laugh.

(the photo below is a simulation, the real crash was way funny er, so was the second one. love you Cara!!)
On to the cathedral...

After lunch we wanted to go see the beaches, we deiced on Horseshoe Bay, this is supposed to be one of the most beautiful beaches in the world. So we all got back on our scooters in single file rode out of the church driveway. Margaret took off and was going to fast and crashed into a line of scooters. She knock over one, a passer by helped her up and since she was not sure of what to do she took off and we followed behind her. We went up the rode a ways and could not stop laughing. I can still hear her yelling before she hit the scooters and it is still funny. We teased her that she was going to be on Bermudas most wanted for hit and run.

We safely made it to Horseshoe Bay and it is BEAUTIFUL.
Jessi and little Mike McGookin wanted to swim even though it was cold.
The sand in Bermuda is amazing, it is crushed shells. You never feel dirty , it's great.

Bermuda is so beautiful, the water is like nothing I have ever seen before!!! It look as though dye is in the water. It is spectacular.

Church Bay We left the ship and headed for Church Bay. Vaughn and I got separated from the group and went to far, so they sent Cara to find us....not a good idea. Cara caught up with us and told us where we need to turn to get into the bay. So we turned around and went back. Vaughn and I made it fine. Cara on the other hand turned into the driveway early and hit a bunch of gravel and totally crashed AGAIN, this time she suffered an injury (scraped hands) and took of the right mirror off her scooter. As you will notice in the photo below .

No right mirror.

Tobacco Bay

Tobacco Bay was great we were able to swim and snorkel here. As we came down the hill we looked like a biker gang, some described us as the "Hells Angels" either way we were having a blast!

The coastline is breathtaking Steve and Cory had time to explore after they took me to the airport.

There are many caves on the beaches. Who could resist exploring them?

More great Bermuda pics

We dropped of the scooters and it started to rain, what timing. Anyways we are headed back to the ship. Thanks for the wonderful memories Bermuda !!!

I did not get to ride back to New York on the ship and from what heard I missed a wonderful lobster diner and a desert feast. Thanks to my wonderful husband he took many photo's so I would not miss to much.

The crew let the kids eat this chocolate castle after the party. yum.

The ride back to New York was very rough, a lot of people on board got sick while others braved the outdoor and played "Deadliest Catch".
This trip was a great family adventure, I am so glad we were able to do this.
